fil-a-ment [ fil-uh-muhnt ] -noun
1. a single fibril of natural or synthetic textile fiber
2. the threadlike conductor in a light bulb that is heated to incandescence by the passage of current
The design intent of the Fil-a-ment Pendant Lamp is to further shed light (pun intended) on the possibilities of taking materials labeled as trash and repurposing them into aesthetically pleasing functional objects that people will actually use and be proud to display in their home or workplace. The pendant lamp reuses 8 carpet samples, (depending on the desired effect of the carpets and the adjustable size of the lamp) wooden dowel rods, leather straps and glue. The fixture is inexpensive, easy to construct and can be designed to compliment any interior space by selecting the appropriate carpet sample and carpet sample backing. As a stand alone functional task light or grouped together as a series of decorative lights, the Fil-a-ment Pendant Lamp is a sustainable fixture that can be marketed as an educational art-object.
i think this one is adorable! i would love to use it in a room, but i would be concerned that not very much light would be allowed to be emitted. but i really do love it!
