About This Project

Every year, Four billion pounds of carpet are discarded in the United States, of which only about one percent is recycled. With so much carpet destined for land fills, our objective is to aesthetically re-purpose as much as we can. Two people with a few hand tools can assemble unique furniture that is both practical and a conversation generator. Over one hundred carpet tiles will be used for this sofa.

The question is would carpet squares want to continue to lie down if given another chance at usefulness? We think not.

Project Feedback

I think the structure would cave in...but a neat idea to overlap.

mldoerig,

We definitely wanted to push the envelope a little with this one. I think if the middle support and end brackets were a full tile wide, it would look more stable, but it would have had less visual impact as an object, hence the name suspense instead of suspend sofa. Thanks for the comment.
